MANAGEMENT TEAM

JOE MATTHYS
Managing Director

Joseph (Joe) started his career in the renewable power industry in Perth (2014) before moving into the slurry engineering with Paterson & Cooke’s Perth office. Since then, Joe undertook different roles including lab manager and slurry hydraulics specialist before finally moving to Brisbane to lead their local practice in Queensland. His experience includes slurry pipeline studies, test work campaigns, project execution, and commissioning including red mud (tailings), lithium tailings, mineral sands feed ore, gold tailings, iron ore tailings, iron ore concentrate (magnetite), copper feed ore, copper tailings and several concentrated mineral systems (copper and gold). These projects helped Joe to develop a thorough understanding of slurry steady state and transients hydraulics as well as a vast variety of slurry test work. In 2021 Joe started Alpha-Cru Slurry Engineering, his own slurry consulting business in collaboration with Fremantle Metallurgy in Perth’s south-west suburbs, leading a team of motivated engineers and technicians to deliver world-class engineering solutions to the local mining industry.
